Lekhnath, Kaski, Nepal

A student nurse from the lakeside city of Pokhara, now studying in Kathmandu. My days move between textbooks, hospital wards, and quiet conversations at the bedside, and I am learning that good care is equal parts science, patience, and presence.

Who I am

About Me

Rishma in a garden settingPortrait of RishmaRishma outdoors in winter

Hello, and thank you for visiting. I am Rishma Pande, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, pursuing nursing with a strong commitment to compassionate, evidence informed, and patient centered care.

I grew up in Lekhnath, Kaski, where my early experiences, education, and community shaped my values and inspired my interest in serving others through healthcare.

I believe learning never truly ends. Every patient, every book, and every clinical experience offers an opportunity to become a better healthcare professional.

Beyond academics, I enjoy reading Nepali literature, exploring psychology, listening to audiobooks, reflecting on philosophy, and spending time with stories that deepen empathy and understanding of people. I value curiosity, humility, kindness, meaningful conversations, and continuous personal growth.

A calling, not a career

Why Nursing

Rishma at Maharajgunj Nursing Campus

Nursing appealed to me because it brings together scientific knowledge and compassionate human connection. It is a profession that never asks you to choose between the mind and the heart.

Caring for people during their most vulnerable moments requires not only clinical knowledge but also patience, empathy, emotional intelligence, and lifelong learning. Every shift is a small classroom, and every patient is a teacher.

I hope to become the kind of nurse who listens carefully, learns continuously, and contributes positively to both individual patients and the broader healthcare community.

Curiosity in practice

Academic Interests

Among all nursing subjects, Psychology has been the most fascinating so far. Understanding emotions, behaviour, mental wellbeing, and human resilience is just as important as understanding physical health, and it has strengthened my belief that healing involves both the body and the mind.

Why Psychology Moves Me

A patient rarely arrives with just a diagnosis. They bring worry, memory, family, and hope. Psychology has taught me to notice all of that, and to remember that a calm word can be as therapeutic as a well timed medication.

Digital Health

I am curious about how technology can make healthcare more accessible, especially in rural Nepal. From telemedicine and health apps to simple digital tools that help patients stay connected with care, I believe thoughtful innovation can support nurses and communities in meaningful ways.

Research Collaboration

Although I am still at the beginning of my academic journey, I am genuinely enthusiastic about learning through research, collaborating with experienced mentors, and contributing to meaningful healthcare projects.

I believe every great researcher begins as a curious learner, and I am eager to grow through evidence based inquiry, teamwork, and continuous learning.

If you are working on nursing, healthcare, psychology, community health, or public health research, I would be delighted to connect, learn, and contribute wherever I can.

A Thought I Carry With Me

"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you."

How I show up

A Little About Who I Am

Compassionate Listener

I try to hear beyond words. Being present with patients, families, and friends is where I believe real care begins.

Curious Learner

I ask questions often, read widely, and let curiosity guide me from textbook chapters to bedside conversations.

Thoughtful Reader

Books, especially Nepali literature, help me understand people. Reading is how I sharpen empathy off duty.

Psychology Enthusiast

The human mind fascinates me. I keep returning to psychology because emotional wellbeing is inseparable from physical health.

Lifelong Student

I believe learning does not end with a degree. Every ward, every mentor, and every patient continues my education.

Future Research Collaborator

I am eager to grow through evidence based inquiry and teamwork, contributing to work that improves care in Nepal and beyond.

Community Focused

I want my work to reach beyond hospital walls, especially in public health and community wellbeing across Nepal.

Evidence Informed Thinker

I try to base decisions on careful reasoning and current evidence, tempered with humility about what I am still learning.

Calm Under Pressure

Clinical settings can move quickly. I work to stay steady, focused, and kind when the stakes feel high.

Always Learning

Growth is a daily practice. I welcome feedback, seek mentors, and trust that small, honest improvements add up over time.
